Family and friends will want to know how the child is doing, how the parents are. While they’ll want to bring comfort and give help, visits and phone calls don’t always happen at the best time, as much for the child as for the parents. It may be useful to keep a blog or a Facebook page (private or public) to let them know when the parents would find these useful, and to communicate in a less intrusive way. Another option is to send an email to these people. It can be exhausting listening to questions and explaining the situation so many times, but finding support in the people around you helps a great deal. The Internet allows us multiple solutions, often more appropriate than phone calls or visits.
